Here are some of our most commonly asked questions:
Managing my account
How do I sign up?
All you need to do is:
- 1. Download Wagetap
- 2. Sign up with your name, email and contact number.
- 3. Verify your email address and set your password pin
- 4. Connect your bank account (this will need to be the account your wage is paid into)
- 5. Verify your identity with the debit card connected to your bank account and your address
- 6. Start accessing your wage on demand
Can I have more than one account?
No, we only allow one active account per user.
I’ve been directed to a webpage to set my pin, what do I do?
This happens if the email or browser you're using doesn't support opening the app directly. You'll need do the following steps to set your pin:
- 1. Click 'Set Pin' from your email
- 2. If you have been taken to the browser 'Next'
- 3. If this still doesn't take you into the app, follow the steps on the screen to copy your code.
- 4. You should now be able set your pin using the code
Why is my bank account failing to sync?
Bank accounts can fail to sync for a few reasons:
- • if your bank account is already is connected to another Wagetap account
- • if you're not using a transacting account (your bank account needs to accept direct debits)
- • if there issue with your banking provider.
I have multiple bank accounts and cards, which should I connect?
You will need to connect your bank account where your pay is deposited into and you will need to connect the debit card that is associated with that same bank account. You cannot use another debit or credit card.
Can I have my funds deposited into a different bank account?
No, we only deposit your funds into your connected bank account.
How do you verify my identity?
We use Open Banking and secure card checks to verify your identity. Your bank may ask you to confirm it’s you with a code, fingerprint, or Face ID. It’s a quick way to keep your account safe and prevent fraud.
I’ve taken an advance before, why have I been declined?
Each time you attempt to take an advance, we run an eligibility check on your account. This means, even if you have previously been able to take an advance, it's not guaranteed that you'll be able to take future advances. Advances can be declined for many different reasons, here are our eligibility criteria:
- • Our system can detect wages paid into your connected bank account
- • You have consistent wages and a consistent wage description from your employer
- • Your wages are paid via payroll and not a bank transfer
- • You meet the minimum income requirement (£200 per week)
- • You pass our income and expense check to ensure that you have the ability to repay the loan
- • You don't have too many gambling transactions on your account
- • You don't have too many dishonour fees on your account
- • Your salary isn't paid into a savings account
Is Wagetap safe?
Yes, we use bank-grade encryption to make sure all our data is highly secure.
I am having issues with my account, how can I get help?
You can send us a message through the help section of your app or email us at support@wagetap.co.uk.
Can I get a copy of my loan agreement?
Yes, you can request a copy of your loan agreement by emailing us at support@wagetap.co.uk.
How do I delete my account?
You can use the following link to request account deletion. Please note account deletion can take 14+ days. If you have any outstanding debt, you will not be eligible for account deletion.
Wage Advance
How does wage advance work?
It's simple, you cash out your pay early and repay up to 62 days later. Just take an advance on the app, and we’ll process it right away. Then, we’ll instantly send it to your account so you can pay your debts and expenses.
How often can I take an advance?
You can take an advance once every pay cycle. Once you have successfully repaid your advance on payday and we have received your payment, you can take another advance.
How much can I advance?
If you meet our eligibility criteria, you will be able to access £100.
How much does it cost to take an advance?
For every advance there is an £8 credit broking fee payable to Wagetap. When you receive a £100 advance, then your repayment is £108 including the £8 fee . There are no additional fees, hidden fees or late fees.
What is the representative APR?
Representative APR: 47.1%. Representative example: Loan amount £100. Fixed fee: £8. Interest: 0%. Repayment period: 62 days. Total loan repayment: £108.
Can I get my funds instantly?
Yes, you should receive your funds instantly. Most advances take minutes to become available. In some rare circumstances, it may take up to 24 hours to hit your account. This is due to the configuration of the banking provider.
Why haven't I met the eligibility criteria?
Before you can take an advance with us, we check that you meet our eligibility criteria to ensure that we are lending responsibly. If you are not eligible this time, this could be for a few reasons.Here are the most common reasons:
- • You have not connected a transacting account that your wages are deposited into.
- • You don't meet the minimum income requirement (£200/week).
- • Your wages are not paid by your employer's payroll (not as bank transfers).
- • Your wages are not consistent, meaning you aren't consistently paid weekly, fortnightly or monthly.
- • You have too many gambling expenses on your account.
- • You have too many dishonour fees on your account.
- • You have too many payment reversals on your account.
- • Your recent expenses and repayment history have not passed our eligibility criteria.
I’ve taken an advance before, why can’t I take another one?
Even though you've taken an advance with us in the past, this doesn't guarantee you'll be able to make one in the future - this is dependent on meeting our eligibility criteria.This can happen if there are changes to your circumstances. If you’ve taken advances before and you no longer can make sure to check our eligibility criteria. If you’re still running into issues, be sure to get in touch with our support team.
How can I become eligible?
If you haven't met our eligibility criteria this time, you can definitely try after your next payday. Don't worry, we'll let you know when you're eligible. We recheck eligibility on a regular basis. If you have any questions about our eligibility criteria, feel free to reach out.
Repayments
Do I get a repayment reminder?
Yes! We will always send you a reminder email the day before your repayment is due.
Can I repay early?
Yes you can repay early. You can do this directly in your app!
Can I delay my repayment date?
Yes! You can delay your repayment to your next paycycle or to any day that works for you directly in your app, as long as it doesn’t go past the 62 day loan period:
- 1. Click on 'Manage repayments’
- 2. Click on 'Change repayment date'
- 3. Select your new repayment date
- 4. Slide to confirm
Can I split my repayments?
No, at this stage you will not be able to split repayment amounts.
Do I get a discount if I repay early?
No, the fee is fixed.
How is my repayment processed?
Unless you pay early, your repayment will be processed through your debit card on the repayment due date. Don’t worry, we will always send you a reminder email before this happens.
